See you there!We'll be selecting a new poetry book every month and providing a comfy space at a lovely venue for you to talk all about it. As this is an evening book club we want to let you know about Left Bank's warm space commitments and pay as you feel menu! They put together a delicious menu every Wednesday evening that is Pay As You Feel so if you're coming straight from work or just fancy grabbing something lovely for dinner while you're here, please do. --January Book Club:For our first get together we've chosen Adam by Gboyega Odubanjo, published posthumously in 2024.  https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events4/banners/1d381300-d77e-11ef-a879-4d58da6dcbab-rimg-w1200-h675-dc667369-gmir.jpg Inspired by the discovery of the body of a black boy in the River Thames, the poems form a chain of extended thoughts on what it is to belong – and whether that is even possible – when you come from “so far east it’s west to another man”. Blending English, Pidgin and Yoruba, Odubanjo’s language is by turns laser sharp, expansive and indelible: “there is nothing left to dig a grave / wait and enjoy life / wait and bury me / your touch is life / your gapped teeth please me / the story is yours”.
